# Put a video on your website

> Give Ted an MP4 video, or pick one he made for you, to show it on a page of your website.

Ted can put a video on a page of your website, like a tour of your shop on your home page. Use a video of your own, or one Ted made for you.

Ted does this for you, in the chat.

## Before you start

* A website Ted has already built. He adds a video as a change to it, not while he builds a new website.
* Your own video as an MP4 file. Videos Ted makes need a paid plan: see [Make videos with Ted](https://docs.foundable.com/run/videos.md).
* The owner, admin or member [role](https://docs.foundable.com/account/team.md). View-only teammates can’t change websites.

**1. Open your website**

On the **Build** board, press **Edit** under the website. Ted then knows which website you mean.

**2. Attach your video**

In the message box, press **+**, then **Add photos & files**, and pick your MP4 file. It shows above your message as it uploads. For a video Ted made, skip this step.

**3. Say where it goes**

Tell Ted which page the video goes on, and where, like at the top of your home page. For a video he made, describe it, like the one he made yesterday. Then send your message.

**4. Watch it in the preview**

When Ted has saved the change, the preview shows your page with the video. Play it to check it.

**5. Publish it**

Visitors see the video once you [publish](https://docs.foundable.com/build/publish.md#update-your-live-website) your website.

## Check that it worked

The video plays on its page in the preview, and [Version history](https://docs.foundable.com/build/version-history.md) lists Ted’s change.

## If something goes wrong

> **“… wasn’t added: it’s larger than this plan takes. Add a smaller copy.”**
>
> Your plan takes smaller files in the chat. Attach a shorter or smaller copy of your video.

> **Ted says your video isn’t an MP4**
>
> Your video is in another format, like MOV. Save or export it as MP4, then attach it again.

> **Ted says the video is too big for your website**
>
> A website can hold only so much, in one file and in all. Use a shorter or smaller copy of your video.

## FAQ

> **Can I use a video I sent Ted before?**
>
> Yes, if you sent it in the same chat. Otherwise, attach it again.

> **Can Ted make a video for my website?**
>
> Yes, on a paid plan. Ask him for one, then ask him to put it on your website. See [Make videos with Ted](https://docs.foundable.com/run/videos.md).
