# Reply to an email

> Answer an email in your Inbox yourself, or let Ted draft the reply, to write back from your foundable’s own address.

Answer the mail people send your foundable, right in the [Inbox](/inbox/overview). Write the reply yourself, or let Ted draft it for you to read first.

Ted can do this for you: ask him in the chat to answer an email.

Only the owner or an admin can send a reply. A member can press **Reply with Ted**: the reply waits in **Drafts** for an owner or admin to open and send. **Reply with Ted** needs an active plan, and each reply Ted drafts uses [credits](/help/glossary#credit).

**1. Open the conversation**

In the Inbox, press its row.

**2. Press Reply, or Reply with Ted**

**Reply** opens your answer with who you’re replying to, your address and the subject filled in, with Re: in front. **Reply with Ted** drafts it first, then opens it with Ted’s words in it.

**3. Write it, then send**

Write your answer, or change anything in Ted’s, then press **Send**. Nothing goes out until you do.

**Reply** answers the latest message someone sent. When a conversation has several, each message’s **…** menu has its own **Reply** and **Reply with Ted**. On a phone, both wait at the bottom of the conversation.

A reply Ted drafts on his own waits at the end of the conversation instead, headed “Ted’s draft”. Press **Approve** to send it, **Edit** to change it first, or **Decline**. While it waits, the conversation doesn’t offer **Reply with Ted**.

## Check that it worked

The sheet closes. When your reply goes, a note says who it went to, and the reply moves to **Sent**. To follow a reply that takes a while, see [Write and send an email](/inbox/write-and-reply#check-that-it-worked).

## If something goes wrong

> **“Not enough credits to draft a reply.”**
>
> Your credits don’t cover a reply from Ted. Add credits, or write the reply yourself. See [Get more credits when you run out](/account/out-of-credits).

> **“Drafting replies needs an active plan.”**
>
> Ted drafts replies only with an active plan. Choose a plan, or write the reply yourself. See [Choose, change or cancel your plan](/account/change-your-plan).

> **“Your account is on hold, so Ted can’t draft replies. Contact support.”**
>
> Your account is on hold. [Contact support](/help/get-help).

## FAQ

> **Can I reply to everyone on an email?**
>
> No. A reply goes back only to whoever sent the message, and Cc and Bcc are only for new emails. See [Write and send an email](/inbox/write-and-reply).

> **Can I attach a file to my reply?**
>
> No. Emails you send from the Inbox are plain text with no files.
