# Posts and the Library

> Find every post and document Ted made, see what each post’s status means, and check how your posts are doing on each network.

Ted writes posts for the social networks you connect, and keeps everything he makes in the **Library**: posts, documents and lists, from every run. Open it with **Library** at the top left of Run.

This page shows how a post goes out, what each status means, and how to read your posts’ numbers.

## How a post goes out

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ted drafts a post">
    He writes a post for one of your networks. **Ted’s activity** says so, like “Drafted an Instagram post”. The post waits under [From Ted](/help/glossary#from-ted) on [Home](/get-started/home), and in the Library as “Needs approval”.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review it">
    Press **Review**. The post opens the way the network shows it, with a line saying what your choices do, like “Approve posts it to Instagram now. Decline sets it aside for 14 days.”
  </Step>

  <Step title="Decide">
    Press **Approve** to post it now, **Schedule** to pick a time, **Edit** to change it, or **Decline** to set it aside. See [Approve Ted’s work](/ted/approvals).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Watch it go out">
    It shows “Publishing”, then “Published”. Its numbers appear under **Post performance** once the network measures it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

With **Runs on its own**, Ted can post or schedule posts himself where **Publish & schedule posts** is on. See [Ask first or Runs on its own](/run/ask-first-or-on-its-own). Ted’s posts need a paid plan.

## Before a post can go out

When you approve a post, Foundable checks it with the network. If something stands in the way, the review says so:

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| “Connect Instagram before this can publish” | Connect the account in Run. See [Connect your social accounts](/run/social-accounts). |
| “Turn on Instagram before this can publish” | Open Instagram in Run, turn on **Use in Run**, and pick the account with **Use this account**. |
| “Ask Ted for a shorter post before this can publish” | The words are over the network’s limit. Ask Ted for a shorter post, or edit it yourself. |
| “The network refused this post.” | The network turned it down. The post stays a draft, with the network’s reason. Ask Ted to change it. |

Each network takes a set number of characters in a post. When you edit a post, Foundable counts as you type and says “Too long for Instagram” (or the network you’re on) when you go over.

| Network | Most characters in a post |
| - | - |
| Facebook | 63,206 |
| Instagram | 2,200 |
| LinkedIn | 3,000 |
| X | 280 |
| Threads | 500 |

An Instagram post always needs a picture.

## Schedule a post

Press **Schedule** in the review and pick a time. The post shows “Scheduled · …” and “Goes out …”, and goes out at that time. If the time is too close, you see “That time is too soon. Pick a later time and schedule it again.”

## What a post’s status means

| Status | What it means |
| - | - |
| “Needs approval” | It’s waiting for your OK. Press **Review**. |
| “Approved” | You approved it, and it’s on its way. |
| “Scheduled” | It goes out at the time shown. |
| “Publishing” | It’s going out now. |
| “Published” | It’s live on the network. |
| “Failed” | It didn’t post. “This attempt failed. The saved content is still available; opening it does not retry publishing.” Ask Ted for a new one. |
| “On hold” | Foundable couldn’t confirm whether it posted: “Publishing has not been confirmed. Its status must be resolved before this post can be sent again.” Check your account on the network. |
| “Set aside” | You declined it: “You passed on this post. It remains saved here.” You can bring it back for 14 days. |
| “Expired” | It was set aside more than 14 days ago, so it can’t be approved anymore. |
| “Cancelled” | “This work was cancelled. The saved content is still available.” |
| “Removed by Instagram” | The network took the post down. |
| “Taken down” | The post was taken down, by Ted or at his request. |
| “Status unavailable” | Foundable can’t read where it stands right now. |

### Bring back a declined post

A post you decline is set aside, not deleted. To use it after all, find it in the Library under its network’s **Set aside** view, open it, and press **Bring back to drafts**. You can do this for 14 days. After that, it says “This draft expired”.

### When Ted asks to take a post down

Ted may ask to remove a post he published. His line in **Ted’s activity** opens the post, which says “Ted asks to take this down”, with **Take down** and **Keep it**. With **Ask first**, it waits for the owner or an admin. With **Runs on its own**, Ted can take his own posts down himself. If the network doesn’t remove it, you see “Instagram didn’t take it down” or “The take-down isn’t confirmed”.

## How your posts are doing

Open a published post in the Library to see **Post performance**: the numbers each network last reported for it, such as its “Lead measures”. Switch the chart between **Total** and **Daily**.

These numbers aren’t live. Each network first measures a post about 15 minutes after it goes out, then about every hour while it’s new, and less often as it ages. The post says when each network last reported, like “Instagram last reported · …”. A post the network hasn’t counted yet says “Not measured yet”, and its chart starts once the network has measured it twice.

Ted checks these numbers too as he works: you’ll see lines like “Checked how your Instagram post is doing” in **Ted’s activity**. For a summary across your posts, see **Insights** on [Home](/get-started/home).

## The Library

The Library keeps everything Ted has made, from every run. Press **Close** to go back to the canvas.

| Part | What it holds |
| - | - |
| “Everything Ted has made.” | The heading, with how many items there are. |
| **Search everything** | Finds posts, documents and pictures by their words. |
| **Stacks** and **Dense file tree** | Two ways to lay things out: cards, or a compact list. |
| **All**, **Social** and **Files** | Tabs. **All** shows your posts and your files together. |
| **Social** | **All posts**, plus a stack for each network. Each counts what needs approval, what’s scheduled and what’s published. |
| **Files** | **Documents** holds the documents, lists and files Ted saved. **Assets** holds pictures, such as your logo. Files also says how many tasks Ted runs for you on a schedule, with **Open Schedule**. |
| **Connect your channels** or **Connect more channels** | The networks you haven’t connected yet. |

Open a network’s stack to see its posts in four views: **Needs approval**, **Scheduled**, **Set aside** and **Completed**. A post that waits for your decision opens the review. Any other post opens a read-only **Post preview**, with a link to the post on the network once it’s live.

### Who can do what

Everyone in your foundable can open the Library. The owner and admins approve, schedule, decline and edit posts, and decide Ted’s take-down requests. Members don’t see **Connect**, and View only people can look but not change anything.

## FAQ
